Facilities

The total lab space for Huang’s group at this time is approximately 1,500 square feet. We have already established a world-class facility for organic/nano electronic material synthesis, material characterization, device fabrication, and device characterization.

Glove Boxes

A double length MBraun glove box is available to do the spin-coating in the N2 atmosphere. The glove box has also the quartz windows and electric feedthroughs which allow I-V measurement of the solar cell devices inside the glove box. A Newport 150 W solar simulator and computer controlled Keithley 2400 for solar cell efficiency measurement is available.

Fume Hoods and Filtration

03.jpg

Material/substrate preparing equipment includes two hoods for chemical synthesis, Jelight UV-Ozone for substrate surface treatment, KW 4A spin-coater for film deposition, several hotplates/stirrers and several ovens for annealing.

The vertical laminar flow workstation provides clean laminar flow air for process protection by using a two stage filtration process. Room air is first cleaned with an electrostatically charged prefilter and then further cleaned with a HEPA filter.

Measurement and Test Equipment

LAMBDA 1050 UV/Vis/NIR Spectrophotometer

The LAMBDA 1050 is designed to achieve a greater level of sensitivity, resolution and speed in the NIR range, it simplifies the analysis of difficult samples such as high absorbing glass, optical coatings or thin film filters. It features two large sampling compartments and a variety of snap-in modules and accessories, including a general purpose optical bench, integrating spheres and Universal Reflectance Accessory

Spectrum Two IR Spectrometers

Spectrum Two is the IR spectrometer for fast, accurate IR analysis. It include an internal reflection accessory for simplifying the analysis of solids, powders, pastes, gels and liquids. This technique is ideal for anyalyzing strong infrared absorbing solutions, such as emulsions or aqueous solutions. The technique can prove useful in measuring homogenous solid samples, solid surfaces and coating on solid samples.
